BROWNWOOD, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Soccer scored three unanswered goals and rolled past Howard Payne 3-1 in a Tuesday non-conference match in Brownwood, Texas.
The Bulldogs tied the match at 1-1 with a header from
Lalo Ramirez (Round Rock/Stony Point) and took the lead just before the half on a shot by
Walter Pinon (Humble/Humble).
Colin Nunley (Keller/Keller Central) assisted on the Ramirez goal. Pinon's goal was unassisted as he followed up a shot on goal that was initially saved by HPU keeper Allan Chehadi.
First-year player
Miguel Candelario (San Antonio/Brandeis) added to the TLU lead in the 67th minute with a goal off an assist from
Eric Mendez (Amarillo/Amarillo).
TLU's senior keeper
Jonathan Michael (Coppell/Coppell) made four saves in the win.
The Bulldogs' next match is set for this Friday, a 4 p.m. contest at TLU's Gustafson Field against East Texas Baptist University. TLU will have live video and live stats for the non-conference match.
