SEGUIN, Texas â€" Texas Lutheran secured its second straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season title and claimed the top seed for the upcoming conference championship tournament with a 5-0 home win over Southwestern.

On Saturday afternoon, the Bulldogs and Pirates played a full five innings before the rains descended on TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium â€" Morck Softball Field and ended the first game. Game two was canceled due to the rainy weather.

The 5-0 victory for TLU extended the Bulldogs' school-record win streak to 26 games.

The 23
rd-ranked Bulldogs, the defending conference champions, now have won 30 consecutive regular-season games in the SCAC. TLU pushed its Kruse Stadium win streak to 22 games.
TLU's overall record now stands at 29-4 with a conference mark of 19-0. Southwestern dropped to 16-17 overall and to 12-7 in the SCAC.
TLU right-hander
Taylor Grissom (Spring/Klein Collins) remained perfect in 2015 with five shutout innings. Grissom pushed her record to 14-0 by allowing just two hits and no runs. She did not issue a walk or strikeout a batter.

Jennifer Gallagher (Missouri City/Elkins) drove in a pair of runs, with a double in the fourth and a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Heather Hummel (Houston/Stratford) added runs two and three of the three-run fourth with a two-run single.

Ashley Jacobsen (Marion/Marion) scored runs in the fourth and the fifth. She walked in the fourth and doubled in the fifth.

TLU concludes conference play next Friday and Saturday in Shreveport, La. with a four-game series against Centenary (La.). Friday's doubleheader begins at 4 p.m., and Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon.

The SCAC Softball Championship starts Friday, April 24 and concludes Sunday, April 26. The tournament will be played at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas.
