TYLER, Texas -- Twenty-fifth ranked Texas Lutheran scored its second win of the season over No. 15 East Texas Baptist with a 69-54 victory Wednesday at the University of Texas at Tyler Christmas Classic.
In UT Tyler's Herrington Patriot Center, the Bulldogs held the Tigers to 26.3 percent shooting from the field and to 27.3 percent shooting from the three-point line.
TLU improved to 8-3 overall. ETBU dropped to 8-2. Both Tiger losses have come against TLU. The Bulldogs defeated ETBU 79-78 in Seguin on Nov. 28.
Matthew Gillette scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. Gillette, a sophomore post, went 5-for-8 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the free throw line.
Gillette scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half as TLU pulled away from the Tigers.

Zach Behr contributed nine points and four rebounds.
TLU led by five, 30-25, at the half. The Bulldogs stretched the lead to double digits with a three-pointer from
Michael Sullivan with 8:11 to play.

The Bulldogs return to Seguin for Saturday's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener with Southwestern University. The men's game is set for a 4 p.m. start in TLU's Memorial Gymnasium. The women's game follows at 6 p.m.
