Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer downed 2-1 in overtime by No. 22 Colorado College

SEGUIN â€" Texas Lutheran Men's Soccer took No. 22 Colorado College into overtime, but eventually fell 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Gustafson Field.

The Bulldogs, down to 10 men after a red card, gave up the game winner a little less than four minutes into overtime. Brandon Ogilvie scored the winner, his second goal of the game, in the 94th minute. The goal came off a long cross from Christian Wulff that found Ogilvie's feet close to goal.

It was a wild game in Seguin, with the final two minutes of regulation full of action. With 2:04 remaining, TLU keeper Jonathan Michael was yellow carded. Since the foul occurred in the penalty area, Colorado College was awarded a penalty kick and a chance to go ahead 2-1. Ogilvie took the penalty kick, but knocked it high, keeping the game level.

The tough loss was the Bulldogs' first in conference play. They now own an overall record of 3-2-2 and a SCAC mark of 1-1-1. The Tigers moved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play with the win.

Texas Lutheran showed plenty of fortitude on Sunday, battling back from a 1-0 deficit by scoring the equalizer just two minutes later.

The Tigers got out in front with Ogilvie's first goal of the game in the 30th minute, but TLU's Alejandro Martinez (Round Rock, Texas) answered back in the 32nd minute with a brilliant goal of his own. The sophomore striker dribbled a length down the middle of the field and unleashed a shot from 20 yards that beat the Colorado College keeper. It was Martinez's third goal of the season.

Texas Lutheran had a chance to go ahead 17 minutes into the second half. A corner kick from TLU ended up on the head of Alex Cortes, but his header missed just a bit high.

Michael (Coppell, Texas) played well in goal for the Bulldogs. The junior made nine saves on the day and did plenty to keep TLU level until overtime.

The Bulldogs were outshot in the game 23-8 and 15-4 in the second half. Lopez (Round Rock, Texas) led the team with three shots.

Texas Lutheran is back out on the road next week with a pair of SCAC matchups against Southwestern and Trinity. The weekend starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 against Southwestern.
