IRVING, Texas â€" Texas Lutheran Softball held Dallas to three hits while outscoring the Crusaders 18-0 in a doubleheader sweep Friday night on the road at Crusader Field.

The Bulldogs (15-5, 8-0 SCAC) beat Dallas 13-0 in five innings in the first game and finished off the doubleheader with a 5-0 victory in the second game, stretching their winning to 11 games in the process. The pair of convincing wins also helped the Bulldogs to their eighth straight SCAC win to start conference play.

TLU turned in a complete performance on Friday with both the offense and pitching clicking big time. The Bulldogs outhit Dallas 17-3, racked up five extra-base hits compared to none for the Crusaders and also struck out 10 batters compared to just two for Dallas.

The offense was rolling in the first game on its way to 13 runs and 12 hits, ending the game in five innings. The Bulldogs cranked out all 13 of those runs in three innings, scoring five runs in both the second and third before capping off the explosion with three more in the fourth.

Ashley Jacobsen was one of the Bulldogs' top run producers in that game, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. She notched her first RBI in the second inning with a bases-loaded single. Jacobsen (Marion, Texas) was also responsible for the Bulldogs' final two runs of the game, driving in a pair with a bases-clearing triple to right field. It was her third triple of the season, tying her for the lead in the SCAC while also giving her an SCAC-best 25 RBI on the year.

Jaime Ohm (Frisco, Texas) drove in a pair of runs and finished with a team-high three hits, going 3-for-4 on the game. Both of her RBI came on a two-run single to center field in the second inning.

It was the bottom of the Bulldog batting order that set the table for Jacobsen and Ohm, as the 6-9 spots in the lineup combined to score nine runs.
Jacquelyn Brown (Vidor, Texas) led the Bulldogs with three runs scored. She finished 2-for-3 on the night.

The Bulldog pitching was not to be outdone though by the offensive explosion.
Amanda Lochte (Fredericksburg, Texas) moved to 4-0 with the win, throwing the first four innings while holding the Crusaders scoreless on just two hits. The freshman struck out two on the day.

Veny PIzana (Odem, Texas) finished off the game, throwing the final inning and sitting the Crusaders down in order, striking out one in the process.

The pitching kept its stranglehold on the Crusader bats in the second game, keeping Dallas at bay until the offense woke back up and scored five runs in the final two innings to pull away.

Taylor Grissom (Spring, Texas) got the start in the circle and tossed her third complete game of the season, allowing just one hit and striking out seven. The sophomore has been on an absolute tear since the start of conference play, having now tossed three straight complete games and allowed just one run on six hits while striking out 21 batters. She moved to 4-1 on the year with the win.

The Bulldogs needed Grissom to toss a gem, since the offense was held scoreless for the first five innings despite three extra-base hits in the first four innings. The bats finally broke through in the sixth, scoring three runs in the frame.
Molly Gorrie scored the first run after Ohm reached on a fielder's choice.
Jennifer Gallagher notched an RBI next, scoring Jacobsen on a groundout.
Taylor Yancey drove in the third run of the frame, scoring Ohm on a sacrifice fly.

The Bulldogs plated two more in the seventh to add some cushion, scoring two on an error.

The Bulldogs notched just five hits in the game, with three of them being of the extra-base variety. Gorrie (Houston, Texas) led the team with two runs scored, she finished 1-for-3 on the night.

The Bulldogs and Crusaders will match back up again tomorrow for another doubleheader starting at noon.
