FORT WORTH, Texas -- A day after scoring 16 runs and recording 15 hits in a 16-0 win over Texas Wesleyan, the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs managed just one run and three hits Wednesday in a 3-1 non-conference road loss to the Rams.
TLU (17-8) received a first-inning solo home run from sophomore third baseman
Keaton Bohrmann (San Antonio/Johnson), but the Bulldogs collected just two more hits the rest of the game. Both hits came off the bat of senior catcher
Danny Brauckman (Austin/McNeil).
Bohrmann's homer to left field was his team-leading fourth home run of the season. He also walked twice. Bohrmann leads the team with 19 RBI.
The Bulldogs, out of the NCAA Division III, walked three times and had three hit batters, but TLU went 0-for-14 with runners on base and left a total of seven runners on base.
TWU, a member of the NAIA, improved to 14-12 with the victory.
The Rams used two pitchers to shut down the Bulldogs. Starting pitcher Easton Etter improved to 2-1 with five innings of work. He allowed all three hits, walked two and hit two.
Brandon Kaufman picked up his first save of the season. Kaufman tossed the final four innings and did not allow a hit. He struck out four, walked one and hit one.
Ryan Welch (Magnolia/Magnolia) took the loss for TLU. He fell to 0-1.
The Bulldogs do not play again until March 28 with the start of a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road series with Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
