SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs tallied 15 hits and 10 runs in a 10-4 non-conference win Friday over Austin College.
At TLU's Katt-Isbel Field, the Bulldogs broke open a 2-0 game with four runs in the sixth and threes run in the seventh.
TLU improved to 6-3 overall. Austin College dropped to 1-4. TLU and AC both play in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, but the Friday-Saturday three-game series in Seguin is a non-conference series. The two teams meet on March 14-15 in Sherman, Texas in conference play.
TLU starter
Aaron Aleman (Corpus Christi/Incarnate Word Academy) pitched seven innings and allowed just one earned run. He struck out five, scattered six hits and did not issue a walk. Aleman improved to 2-1.
Marshall Korn took the loss for the Kangaroos. Korn allowed six earned runs (all earned).
Bulldog designated hitter
Klaus Bohrmann (San Antonio/Johnson) collected three hits in three at-bats and drove in two runs. Senior catcher
Ryan Hill (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) doubled and plated a pair of runs.
Tony Gennusa (Kingwood/Kingwood),
Christian DeBlanc (Kingwood/Kingwood),
Derek Kanas (New Braunfels/Canyon) and
Keaton Bohrmann (San Antonio/Johnson) each had a pair of hits. DeBlanc and Kanas each scored twice, and Gennusa swiped a pair of bases.
TLU and Austin College continue the non-conference series Saturday at Katt-Isbel. Game one of the series begins at noon. TLU will have live video and live stats on tlubulldogs.com for the doubleheader.
