AUSTIN -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs used a 10-run fourth inning to remain perfect in 2014 with an 11-3 road victory over Concordia Texas.
Wednesday at Concordia's Tornado Field, the Bulldogs moved to 4-0 by scoring 11 runs on 18 hits.
Concordia, fresh off a weekend sweep of Southwestern, dropped to 3-1 with the home loss.
The Bulldogs sent 15 batters to the plate in the 10-run fourth. TLU trailed 2-0 entering the frame.
In the big inning,
Ryan Hill (New Braunfels/Canyon) tripled with the bases loaded and added an RBI single in his second at-bat of the fourth.
Tyler Carollo (Houston/Waltrip) also had two hits in the fourth and produced two RBI on a pair of singles.
Von Wendel (Austin/Anderson),
Keaton Bohrmann (San Antonio/Johnson) and
Klaus Bohrmann (San Antonio/Johnson) also registered RBI in the frame.
Hill finished the game 3-for-4 with the four runs driven home, and Carollo went 4-for-4 with two RBI.
The Bohrmann brothers, Klaus and Keaton, combined for five hits, three RBI and five runs scored. Klaus went 3-for-5, and Keaton drove in a pair of runs in a 2-for-5 performance.
Conner Capdau (Sugar Land/Lamar Consolidated) picked up the win in relief. He pitched two innings, struck out two, walked two and allowed one earned run. Capdau moved to 1-0.
The Bulldogs used six pitchers to hold Concordia to three runs.
Christian DeBlanc (Kingwood/Kingwood) started for TLU and went two innings, allowing two hits.
Brandon Garwood took the loss for the Tornados.
TLU heads to Tyler, Texas this weekend for three games at the University of Texas at Tyler. The Bulldogs play UT Tyler at 6 p.m. Friday and face Louisiana State-Alexandria in a doubleheader Saturday, set for an 11 a.m. start at UT Tyler's Irwin Field.
