Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Balanced offense carries Women's Basketball to 83-71 road win over Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. â€" Four different players scored in double figures as Texas Lutheran rode a balanced attack to an 83-71 road win over Hendrix on Saturday afternoon, notching its second straight win.

The Bulldogs have now leveled their record at 4-4, while the Warriors dropped to 2-7.

Leading the way for TLU was junior guard Taylor Dydalewicz (Dripping Springs, Texas) and her 14 points. She also tallied six boards, and has now led the team in scoring in five of the last six games. Dydalewicz finished 6-of-11 from the field.

Senior Karisa Cantu (San Antonio, Texas) added 12 points in a well-rounded effort. She stuffed the box score, chipping in four rebounds, four assists and a career-high seven steals.

Autumn Shead (Pflugerville, Texas) and Bianca Casas (Edinberg, Texas) enjoyed arguably their most productive days of the season. Both notched season highs in points, with Shead scoring 11 and pulling down six rebounds, and Casas pouring in 10.

After struggling from the field in the first six games of the season, the Bulldogs snapped out of the cold streak in Thursday's win against Manchester. That hot shooting continued, as they shot a season best from the field for the second straight game. This time, they hit on better than 45 percent of their shots and shot 5-of-14 from behind the arc.

Once again TLU was careful taking care of the basketball, recording a season-low 11 turnovers for the second straight game and notching 18 assists.

A strong second-half team all season, the Bulldogs continued that pattern, opening up a double-digit lead in the second period while shooting almost 59 percent.

They went into the halftime locker room leading 38-37, but made seven of their first nine shots coming out of the break to open up a 54-47 lead. That run was capped off by a Dydalewicz layup. Thirteen of those 16 points in that span were scored by Casas and Dydalewicz.

The strong second half start continued, with TLU eventually opening up a 66-50 lead with 8:35 to play.

The Bulldogs will enjoy a break for the holidays and will be back in action at the Texas-Tyler Tournament on Dec. 30. They will take on UT-Tyler at 5 p.m. before playing LeTourneau the next day at noon.
