Women's Basketball falls 71-47 to Texas-Pan American in exhibition contest

EDINBURG, Texas â€" Texas Lutheran trailed by 10 heading into halftime, but ended up falling 71-47 on the road to NCAA Division I-opponent Texas Pan American in an exhibition game on Monday.
 
The Bulldogs fell behind 12-2 a little more than five minutes into the game. They battled the Broncs to a standstill the rest of the half.
 
They cut the deficit to 17-12 in the first half, but the Broncs extended their advantage back out to 28-14 with 2:32 to play. The Bulldogs scored the final four points of the half to make it 28-18.
 
The Bulldogs were paced by 12 points from senior guard Karisa Cantu (San Antonio, Texas). She finished 4-of-9 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line, while also chipping in a team-high four assists.
 
Taylor Dydalewicz (Dripping Springs, Texas) was the other Bulldog to finish with double-digit scoring, dropping 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
 
Senior center Chelsey Stolle (Falls City, Texas) did her usual thing on the defensive end for the Bulldogs, blocking four shots and notching nine rebounds on the night. She came into the evening fourth in the county in blocked shots.
 
Texas Lutheran shot 34 percent from the field, while Texas-Pan American shot 32 percent. The difference came in the rebounding battle, where UTPA notched 30 offensive rebounds compared to 10 for TLU.
 
The Bulldogs were outrebounded 56-38, and the Broncs scored 24 second-chance points.
 
Texas Lutheran will come home to play No. 19 Whitworth in its next game. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 in Memorial Gymnasium. Live video and live stats will be available via tlubulldogs.com.
