SHERMAN, Texas â€" The Texas Lutheran volleyball team ended its season with a clean sweep of Austin College on Saturday in the fifth-place match of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was
Brette Threadgill (Sinton, Texas). The sophomore outside hitter enjoyed one of her best performances in a month, notching a team-leading 13 kills on ultra-efficient .545 hitting. Those 13 kills are the most she's tallied in her last 11 matches.

It was a day for offense for the Bulldogs, as they hit .248 as a team, their highest mark in six matches. It was important that the offense was so good, as it matched that of Austin College. It was the first time this season the Bulldogs won a game in which its opponent hit better than .200. The 'Roos hit .224 on Saturday.

The 26-24, 25-22, 25-20 win improved Texas Lutheran's final record to 20-13 on the year. It finished with a 6-8 mark in regular-season conference play.

Kristin Fording (San Antonio, Texas) continued her strong season-ending play, notching her sixth straight double-double to close out her first campaign with the Bulldogs. The sophomore transfer had 11 kills to go along with 11 digs.

Megan Lee ended her decorated TLU career with a team-best 13 digs, adding to her school record for career digs. The two-time SCAC Backrow Player of the Year also added two assists and a service ace.

Freshman
Kelcie Ingram (Cibolo, Texas) led the team with 26 assists. She also flirted with a double-double, adding seven digs to her day.

The Bulldogs actually fell behind in the opening set as Austin College built a 15-11 lead midway through. The 'Roos continued to lead and even had the Bulldogs up against the wall, leading 24-22. The Bulldogs rattled off four straight points though to take the opening frame.

It was nip and tuck for the first few points of the second set, before TLU got out to a 9-5 lead. The lead expanded to as large as 18-12, before the 'Roos cut it closer towards the end. The Bulldogs finished the set with a kill from Threadgill.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the third set and never looked back, never trailing again. Four straight points midway through the set gave them a 12-7 lead and enough breathing room to take home the win.
