TLU Women's Basketball back to winning ways with 80-67 victory



SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Basketball bounced back from a two-game conference slide and registered an 80-67 victory Friday over the University of Dallas.

At TLU's Memorial Gymnasium, Karisa Cantu (San Antonio/MacArthur), Taylor Dydalewicz (Dripping Springs/Lake Travis) and Kristen Lye (San Antonio/Clark) each scored in double figures for the Bulldogs.
Cantu led the Bulldogs with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Dydalewicz and Lye each chipped in 14. Dydalewicz grabbed seven rebounds, and Lye recorded four rebounds and three steals.

The Bulldogs improved to 10-5 overall and to 2-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. TLU moved its home record to 6-1.

Dallas dropped to 9-5 overall and to 2-2 in the SCAC.

The Bulldogs forced 18 Dallas turnovers and held the Crusaders to 31.1 percent shooting from the field. TLU guard Bianca Casas (Edinburg/Edinburg) tallied five steals.

Dallas made just 19 of 61 shot attempts but went to the free throw line 30 times (and made 27 free throws).

TLU's 6-foot-4 center Chelsey Stolle (Falls City/Falls City) blocked three shots and generally disrupted the Dallas interior offense. Stolle also contributed six points and five rebounds.

TLU finished the game at 42 percent. The Bulldogs made eight three-pointers (three by Cantu).

The Bulldogs led 42-38 at the half after shooting 48.4 percent over the first 20 minutes.
TLU led the entire game and had a 16-point lead with 11:49 to play in the game.
The Bulldog bench out-scored Dallas 46-19, and TLU led in points off turnovers, 23-13.
TLU hosts Colorado College (1-13, 1-3 SCAC) at Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
