Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer's two first-half goals leads to home win over Dallas

SEGUIN â€" The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team scored two goals in the first half to defeat the University of Dallas 2-0 on Friday evening at Gustafson Field.

It didn't take long for the Bulldogs to get on the board, with freshman Colin Nunley (Keller, Texas) scoring in just the fifth minute to give the Bulldogs the lead. The goal came after Alejandro Martinez (Round Rock, Texas) found Nunley with a cross into the box. Nunley took the shot from about 10 yards out and put it into the net for his first career Texas Lutheran goal.

Martinez, another freshman, continued his helping ways in the 14th minute when he sent a cross to the near post. Isaac Lopez (Round Rock, Texas) got on the end of the cross and finished it for his third goal of the year. He's now tied for the team lead in that category.

The two first-half goals were all the Bulldogs needed as they held Dallas in check the rest of the game despite being outshot 20-10.

The win improved Texas Lutheran's record to 5-2 (2-2 SCAC) while the loss dropped Dallas to 5-4 (1-3 SCAC).

Sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Michael (Coppell, Texas) notched his third shutout of the year and improved his goals-against average to 1.06. He made five saves on the day with one of his best efforts coming in the 89th minute when he came off his line to make a tremendous stop on a Nathan Nwaeze attempt to keep the clean sheet intact.

The Bulldogs will continue SCAC play when they play host to Colorado College at noon on Sunday. They will be looking to hand the Tigers their first conference loss as they head into Sunday with a 4-0 SCAC record.
