Men's Soccer shut out on road against Trinity



SAN ANTONIO â€" The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team's undefeated start to the 2013 season came to an end Friday night in the form of a 4-0 road loss against Trinity.
 
The Bulldogs, who won their first four matches of the season, including their SCAC opener, now sit at 4-1 (1-1 SCAC) on the year. Trinity improved to 3-2-1 (1-1 SCAC).
 
Texas Lutheran was held without a shot on goal the entire game, while Trinity, a team that is receiving votes in the latest Top 25 polls, tallied 11 shots on goal.
 
Overall, the Bulldogs were outshot 33-8, with sophomore Tim Schaffer (New Braunfels, Texas) leading TLU with three total shots.
 
Sophomore Jonathan Michael (Coppell, Texas), played the first 75 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs and made six saves while allowing four goals. Freshman Justin Lee (Tucson, Ariz.) finished out the game in goal and didn't face a shot.
 
Trinity opened up the scoring in the 24th minute with a Brian Hines goal which was assisted by Francisco Vasquez. The Jaguars scored another goal in the 33rd minute to head to the locker room up 2-0.
 
The Bulldogs were able to keep the deficit at two until the 71st minute, when a Tom Carwile goal gave Trinity a comfortable lead. The final goal of the game was scored in the 75th minute.
 
Texas Lutheran will continue SCAC play with another road test coming up next, this time against Southwestern at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
