Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Offense stymied in Women's Soccer's 2-0 loss to Concordia Texas

SEGUIN â€" The Texas Lutheran women's soccer team was felled by a pair of goals by Alex Price on Monday afternoon in a 2-0 road loss to Concordia Texas.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs' record to 0-2 on the year. Monday's matchup was TLU's first on the road.

Price, a junior, scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal late in the first half before closing things out with another goal late in the second half.

The Texas Lutheran attack was held in check most of the day, tallying four shots total with all four of those shots coming on goal. The Bulldogs weren't able to get a shot off in the first half.

Senior Courtney Farmer (Austin, Texas) led the way for the Bulldogs, notching three shots on goal, while Miki Roberts recorded the other one.

Despite the offense being held down throughout the first half, it looked like the Bulldogs would have a chance to go into the locker room at halftime still tied 0-0 before Price struck in the 42nd minute to open the scoring. Her goal slipped past Texas Lutheran goalkeeper Erin Rose and squeezed inside the goal post.

After being outshot 8-0 in the first half, the Bulldogs showed some fight in the second half, putting four shots on net while holding Concordia to just one. Unfortunately, none of the four Bulldog shots could get past Tornado keeper Megan Frontiera, but the one shot Concordia got on net found its way through.

Price put the game away in the 87th minute, finding the back of the net off a blocked shot.

Rose (San Antonio, Texas), a freshman, represented herself well, making four saves on the day.

Texas Lutheran's next chance for the first win of the season will come, once again, on the road when they travel to LeTourneau for a 4 p.m. matchup against the YellowJackets on Friday, Sept. 6.
