SEGUIN â€" The Texas Lutheran women's basketball team scored 23 of the game's first 25 points and never looked back on its way to an 87-42 win over Dallas Christian inside Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs shot 51.5 percent from the field while holding the Crusaders to just 27.8 percent shooting. The Bulldogs also outscored the Crusaders 44-6 in the paint, 22-2 in second-chance points and 22-0 in fast-break buckets.

The win improved Texas Lutheran's record to 6-3 on the year and dropped Dallas Christian to 2-12. Saturday's victory was the third straight for the Bulldogs.

Taylor Dydalewicz (Dripping Springs, Texas) led the way for the TLU, scoring a game-high 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting. In her 14 minutes of action she made 5-of-9 from the free throw line and grabbed four rebounds. She scored 12 of her points in the first half.

Savannah Hight (San Antonio, Texas) was the only other Bulldog to reach double figures, scoring 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting. She made a pair of 3-pointers in the first half.

Mel Dixon played 18 players total and 15 of those scored at least one point. The starters played just three minutes in the second half.

Chelsey Stolle (Fallas City, Texas) led the team with five rebounds to go along with six points, three assists and three blocks.

Ta'Kela Taylor was the only player to reach double-digit scoring for Dallas Christian, scoring 12 points and pulling down four rebounds.

The Bulldogs dominated most every aspect of Saturday's contest, especially the rebounding and assist battles. They out-rebounded the Crusaders 50-28 and dished out 26 assists compared to 14 for Dallas Christian.

The outcome was never in doubt after TLU jumped out to that 23-2 lead less than 11 minutes into the game. Actually, the game was tied at 2-2 before the Bulldogs unleashed 21 straight points to take control. They eventually built a 53-18 lead heading into the locker room at the half.

The sizable advantage allowed Dixon to play some lineups that don't see many minutes together on the floor. The TLU bench scored 26 of the Bulldogs' 34 second-half points.

Saturday marked the fourth time this season the TLU defense has held an opponent below 30 percent shooting from the field.
