Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Ramirez's goal enough in Men's Soccer's 1-0 win over Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. â€" A first-half goal from Lalo Ramirez was all the Texas Lutheran men's soccer team needed in its 1-0 shutout of Centenary on Friday night.

Ramirez (Round Rock, Texas), a sophomore, scored what turned out to be the game's only goal in the 33rd minute. The game winner came off assists by Colin Nunley (Keller, Texas) and Nathan Drouillard (San Antonio, Texas).

The goal was Ramirez's fourth on the year. He certainly has had a flair for the dramatic and a propensity for coming up with goals when his team needs it the most. Friday's goal was his third game winner of the year.

With the win, Texas Lutheran improved to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in SCAC play. The loss dropped Centenary to 0-11 overall and 0-6 in conference competition.

Ramirez's goal was enough as the Bulldog defense held Centenary scoreless for the entire game. As a team, TLU held Centenary to just eight total shots and three on goal.

Bulldog goalkeeper Jonathan Michael (Coppell, Texas) came away with the shutout, his fourth of the season. He made three saves on the night lowered his goals-against average to just 1.05 goals per game.

Offensively, Texas Lutheran took 17 total shots and 10 shots on goal. Five players tallied at least two shots, with Isaac Lopez and Andrew Welsch leading the way with three each.

The Bulldogs will play their second straight game on the road on Sunday when they take on Austin College at 2 p.m.
