Men's Soccer stymied in 3-0 loss to Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. â€" The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team saw its offense held in check in a 3-0 road loss on Sunday afternoon to Colorado College.

The Bulldogs' offense never found a foothold as Colorado College held the Bulldogs to just three shots and two shots on goal for the game.

The loss dropped Texas Lutheran's record to 9-5 on the year and 6-5 in SCAC play. The Bulldogs still remain in good shape in the conference standings, sitting in fourth place and seven points ahead of Austin College and Schreiner with just three conference games left.

The game was scoreless for a majority of the first half, but the Tigers broke open the scoring in the 38th minute with a goal by Seth Newby. The goal came off a Brandon Ogilvie through-ball from 20 yards away that set Newby up for a 10-yard shot.

The Tigers would score another goal heading into halftime with Max Grossenbacher scoring in the 45th minute.

In the 53rd minute, Colorado College would widen the gap with one more goal from Newby.

Bulldog sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Michael (Coppell, Texas) made four saves on the day while allowing the three goals.

Alejandro Martinez (Round Rock, Texas) and Steven Ybarra (San Antonio, Texas) each notched a shot on goal on Sunday.

The Bulldogs play their final two home games of the season next weekend when they play host to Trinity and Southwestern at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, respectively.
