IRVING, Texas â€" The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team got goals from
Steven Ybarra and
Lalo Ramirez on its way to a 2-0 shutout on the road Friday against the University of Dallas at Crusader Field.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 9-4 on the year and 6-4 in SCAC play. The win meant the Bulldogs keep pace in the conference, staying just one game behind Colorado College for third place in SCAC standings. The two teams meet on Sunday in Colorado Springs at 3 p.m. in a matchup that could have huge implications in the conference race.

On Friday, Texas Lutheran used a great defensive effort to shut out Dallas. The defense held the Crusaders to just one shot on goal and four total shots all game. The game was thoroughly controlled by the Bulldogs, who notched 24 total shots and nine shots on goal.

Ybarra (San Antonio, Texas) broke open the scoring in the 39th minute with his first career goal as a Bulldog. The goal was assisted by
Tim Schaffer (New Braunfels, Texas).

After heading into the locker room with a 1-0 lead, Ramirez (Round Rock, Texas) gave the Bulldogs some breathing room in the second half with a goal in the 59th minute to open up a 2-0 lead. The goal, Ramirez's fifth of the year, was assisted by
Alex Sierra (Torrance, Calif.).
Eight Bulldogs tallied at least two shots on the day with
Colin Nunley (Keller, Texas) leading the way with four total shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Jonathan Michael (Coppell, Texas) needed to make just one save to record his sixth shutout of the season. He improved his goals-against average to 0.87, good for second in the conference.
