SEGUIN, Texas -- Five different Texas Lutheran players scored Friday in the Bulldogs' 5-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Centenary (La.).
The Bulldogs (7-4, 4-4 SCAC) led just 1-0 late in the first half before
Rigo Cardenas (San Antonio/Harlandale) scored with three seconds remaining in the half. The Cardenas goal came off an assist from
Saul Herrera (San Francisco, Calif./San Antonio Stevens).
Centenary dropped to 0-13 and to 0-8 in the SCAC.
TLU started its scoring in the 23rd minute with a goal from
Alejandro Martinez (Round Rock/Stony Point).
Isaac Lopez (Round Rock/Stony Point) assisted on the goal.
Lopez added a goal of his own in the 55th minute when he connected on a penalty kick.
Nathan Drouillard (San Antonio/Johnson) and
Colin Nunley (Keller/Keller Central) added goals in the 88th and 89th minutes, respectively. Nunley assisted on Drouillard's goal (a header off a corner kick), and
Alex Cortes (Austin/Leander) assisted on the Nunley strike.
TLU out-shot Centenary 27-5 and held The Gents to two shots on goal. TLU registered 13 shots on goal.
The Bulldogs continue SCAC play on Sunday with a 2 p.m. match against Austin College.
