Summer Swift collects third SCAC Women's Golfer of the Week award

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran junior Summer Swift (Fentress/San Marcos) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for a third time this year.

Swift fired a final round 76 to finish in first in the 38-player field with a two-day total of 160 (+16) at the Centenary College Hal Sutton Invite - contested on Monday and Tuesday at the Golf Club at Stonebridge.

Swift's 76 propelled the Bulldogs to a 27-shot team score improvement over Monday's round as TLU jumped from sixth to fourth in the final team standings with a team round of 354.

The defending SCAC medalist, Swift won the Hal Sutton medalist honors by three shots over Lindy Patterson of the University of Texas at Dallas and Charnay Williams of Tyler Junior College.


Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Leilani McDaniel of Southwestern paced the Pirates with a 237, shooting an 80 in the first and third rounds and a 77 in the second to finish 21 over par and in 21st place, at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. Senior Emilee Strausburg of Trinity bettered her score by five strokes for a 5-over-par 76 in the final round of the George Fox Westbrook Invitational. Strausburg carded a 157 and rose nine positions to tie for 24th place. Junior Erin Rostro of Centenary led the Ladies with a two-day total of 179 (83-96), good for a 12th place finish among individuals at the Hal Sutton Invite. Also playing at the Hal Sutton Invite, freshman Tiffany Han of Dallas made her spring debut with rounds of 111 and 139 to finish with a two-day total of 250 (+106). Junior Hannah Marie Perry of Johnson & Wales shot a season-best 124 on Sunday in the second and final round and finished 22nd among individuals to lead the Wildcat women at the Willamette Valley Cup.
