ABILENE, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran track and field team split up this weekend with a majority of the squad competing in the 2025 War Hawk Classic hosted by McMurry University over the course of two days in Abilene.
Natalie Garcia (McAllen/McAllen) finished fifth and fourth amongst Division-III sprinters in the 100m and 200m dash respectively with times of 12.59 and 26.48 seconds.
Hazel Bowman (Killeen/Robert M. Shoemaker) finished seventh overall and second amongst Division-III sprinters in the 400m dash with a time of 1:01.17. Katie Kostelnik (Hallettsville/Sacred Heart Catholic) finished right behind her in eighth with a time of 1:01.61.
Taylor Norrell (Lake Jackson/Brazosport) finished fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.43 seconds.
Kamilah Tanner (Killeen/Robert M. Shoemaker) and Sage Bartlett (Buda/Johnson) finished sixth and seventh respectively in the 400m hurdles with times of 1:08.57 and 1:08.83.
The Texas Lutheran 4x100m relay team comprised of Norrell, Garcia, Ciarah Garcia (Pleasanton/Pleasanton), and Mikayla Kidney (San Antonio/San Antonio Patriots) finished fourth with a time of 49.81 seconds.
Destini Matherson (San Antonio/MacArthur) finished sixth in the long jump with a 5.05m (16'7") mark. Ciarah Garcia also finished fourth overall and second amongst Division-III jumpers in the triple jump with a mark of 10.40m (34' 1.5").
In throws, Julissa Rodriguez (Deer Park/Deer Park) finished sixth in the shot put and javelin throw with marks of 11.46m (37' 7.25") and 32.08m (105' 3"). Kenna Kubenka (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) finished sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.34m (142' 2") while Kirsten Smith (Yoakum/Yoakum) finished seventh in the discus throw with a mark of 37.56m (123' 3").
