MARSHALL, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran acrobatics & tumbling team finished with a win against East Texas Baptist, 228.545-195.795, on Wednesday night at Ornelas Gymnasium in Marshall.
The Bulldogs (4-2) defeated the Tigers (0-6) by 32.75 points to increase their winning streak to three. TLU started the meet with a 13-point advantage in start value up on ETBU.
TLU built a lead early - sweeping through the meet and winning all six events.
To start off the meet in Compulsory, TLU and East Texas Baptist all executed the required skills with a start value of 10 in each heat. The Bulldogs would win three out of four heats with the event highlighted by a 9.65 in the toss event. Through one event, the score was 30.20-23.30 in Texas Lutheran's favor.
To start the optional portion of the meet, Texas Lutheran would earn a total score of 26.30 consisting of a 9.50 in the fifth element, 7.70 in the sixth element, and 9.10 in the seventh element.
At the half, TLU would lead 85.05 - 69.80 following a Pyramid event that saw the Bulldogs earn a score of 28.55, including a 9.70 in the inversion pyramid and a 9.85 in the open pyramid.
To kick off the second half, Texas Lutheran narrowly outscored the Tigers 25.3-24.25 with a 9.00 in the open toss proving to be the difference.
Despite the Tigers winning two heats, the Bulldogs continued to pull away by winning the tumbling event, 41.325-35.875. The tumbling event was highlighted by a 7.70 out of 8.80 from Genna Crafts (Elgin/Elgin) in the six-element pass, a 7.325 out of 7.50 from Claire Cupples (Katy/Taylor) in the open pass, a 9.30 out of 9.5 from Gracen Bunch (Georgetown/Georgetown) in the aerial pass, and an 8.5 out of 8.75 in the Duo Pass from Bunch and Phoenix Cosley (Round Rock/Hendrickson).
In the Team event, Texas Lutheran competed and scored 76.87/88.02. The Tigers performed, scoring a 65.87/82.27.
The meet finalized with TLU coming out on top with a 228.545 score against ETBU's 195.795; the Bulldogs winning by 32.75 points.
