SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran track and field continued its outdoor season, hosting the annual D3 Challenge at Bulldog Stadium, the site of the 2025 SCAC Championships in April, in Seguin this weekend.
Julissa Rodriguez (Deer Park/Deer Park) highlighted the event for the Bulldogs, winning both the shot put and discus throw on Saturday while finishing third in the hammer and javelin throw. Rodriguez won the shot put with a mark of 12.40m (40' 8.25") and won the discus with a mark of 40.54m (133' 0"). After Saturday's performance, Rodriguez ranks seventh nationally in Division-III in the discus. She earned third place in the hammer with a mark of 41.45m (136' 0") and in the javelin throw with a mark of 31.97m (104' 11").
The Texas Lutheran 4x400m relay team comprised of Katie Kostelnik (Hallettsville/Sacred Heart Catholic), Sage Bartlett (Buda/Johnson), Ciarah Garcia (Pleasanton/Pleasanton), and Kamilah Tanner (Killeen/Robert M. Shoemaker) blew past the competition winning the event by over four seconds with a time of 4:04.48. The time moves the team into 16th place nationally.
Individually, Tanner would finish second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.23.
The Texas Lutheran 4x100m relay team comprised of Taylor Norrell (Lake Jackson/Brazosport), Natalie Garcia (McAllen/McAllen), Ciarah Garcia, and Mikayla Kidney (San Antonio/San Antonio Patriots) finished third with a time of 50.08 seconds.
Freshman Audrey Malbrough (Selma/Veterans Memorial) finished fifth in the 1500m run with a time of 5:12.71.
Also in throws, Alexa Martin (Ingleside/Ingleside) earned a runner-up finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 33.10m (108' 7"). The Bulldogs collected a group of fourth place finishes across throwing events with Emagen Styra (Nordheim/Nordheim) finishing fourth in the shot put with a mark of 11.14m (36' 6.75"), Kirsten Smith (Yoakum/Yoakum) finishing fourth in the discus with a mark of 35.93m (117' 10"), Kenna Kubenka (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) finishing fourth in the hammer with a mark of 41.42m (135' 11"), and Madison Wright (San Antonio/Lee) finishing fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 31.15m (102' 2").
