HOUSTON, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's track and field team returned to Houston to compete in the FasTrak Athletix Indoor Collegiate Last Chance Invitational Saturday at Yeoman Fieldhouse at the University of Houston in a field primarily filled by Division-I competition. Saturday was a record-setting day for Texas Lutheran as the Bulldogs broke numerous program records.
Senior pole vaulter Ezra Acero (San Antonio/Harlan) broke his own program record in the indoor pole vault with a mark of 4.85m (15'11") to finish fourth overall. The career-best mark places Acero 14th amongst all of Division-III for the 2025 indoor season.
The TLU distance medley relay team comprised of Angel Miguel Hernandez (Luling/Luling), Mateo Alvear (San Marcos/San Marcos), Gabriel Ceballos (San Antonio/Smithson Valley), and Wesley Holub (Wallis/Brazos) finished second with a program record time of 10:47.93, surpassing the previous record of 10:49.57 set in 2023.
One year after setting the mile record and just two weeks after a record breaking performance at Yeoman Fieldhouse, Wesley Holub broke the program record in the one mile run with a time of 4:24.75, eclipsing his previous record time by two seconds. Holub would finish 11th overall and fifth amongst Division-III runners.
Garrett Haass (La Vernia/La Vernia) finished third overall and first amongst Division-III competitors in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.39 seconds. Braylen Brown finished 11th overall in the 400m dash with a time of 50.4 seconds, a time that marked the fastest amongst Division-III sprinters.
The 4x400m relay team comprised of Braylen Brown, Terry Barnes (Cleveland, OH/San Marcos), Eden Perez, and Gavino Ramirez (Alice/Alice) finished fourth overall and first amongst Division-III relay squads with a time of 3:22.68.
