Bulldogs Shut Out LeTourneau to Advance to SCAC Championship

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team (11-4-3), who is making their first appearance in the SCAC Tournament since the Spring 2021 season, secured its spot in the SCAC Tournament final with a 2-0 victory over No. 6 seed LeTourneau in the semifinals on Friday night at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. With the win, the Bulldogs advance to the SCAC Championship for the second time in program history with the last occurrence coming in 2019.

Texas Lutheran will play No. 1 seed Colorado College in the championship match on Sunday at 2:30 PM at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in a rematch of the 2019 SCAC Championship. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.

Junior Carson Alldredge (Spring/Klein) and freshman Jesus Carrillo (San Antonio/Reagan) found the back of the net in the second half for the Bulldogs. Alldredge's goal proved to be the game winner while Carrillo scored his team-high sixth goal of the season.

Texas Lutheran out shot the YellowJackets 20-11 and held a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal. Ernesto Avila (Houston/Humble) stopped all six shots he faced. TLU also had a 6-1 edge in corner kicks, including the game winner.

Alldredge put the Bulldogs out in front in the 51st minute as Diego Sanchez (Humble/Atascocita) found him on a corner kick as the junior headed in the match's first goal.

The two teams traded pressure for the next 30 minutes in what was a tense second half before Jesus Carrillo doubled the Bulldogs lead in the 88th minute.

The Bulldogs defense remained strong to secure the ninth clean sheet of the season.

Texas Lutheran will look for its third conference tournament title in program history on Sunday after winning the American Southwest Conference in 2002 and the SCAC in 2019.
