SEGUIN, Texas -- Freshmen forward
Luis Green netted a golden goal in overtime to lift the Bulldogs Men's Soccer squad to a 2-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over University of Dallas Sunday afternoon.ÂÂ
At Texas Lutheran's Gustafson Field, Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley) scored at the 96:21 mark. The unassisted goal was Green's 16th of the season, and his sixth game-winner.ÂÂ
The Bulldogs improved to 10-7 overall and to 9-6 in the SCAC. The Crusaders fell to 8-7 overall and to 7-6 in conference.ÂÂ
With the win, TLU claimed the fourth seed in the upcoming SCAC Men's Soccer Championship.
TLU out-shot the Crusaders 18-10. The teams were even in shots on goal with five.ÂÂ
After a scoreless first half,
Guillermo Guerra (San Antonio/Brennan) kicked off scoring for the Bulldogs in the 78th minute. Guerra knocked home the goal off a penalty kick. ÂÂ
Chase Reynolds scored the equalizer for UD at the 85:21 mark. The goal was assisted by Hunter Haugland.ÂÂ
Brendan Soto (Georgetown/East View) tallied four saves for TLU, including two key blocked shots in the first half.ÂÂ
The Bulldogs head to Georgetown, Texas on Friday for the SCAC Championship Tournament. Post-season playoff times are still to be determined.
