KERRVILLE, Texas -- Alan Aviles scored on a bicycle kick with four seconds to play in double overtime to send the Schreiner Mountaineers to a stunning 3-2 double-overtime win Friday afternoon against Texas Lutheran.
Aviles scored in the 110th minute (109:56) for the Mountaineers, who improved to 2-8-1 overall and to 1-6-0 in the SCAC.
TLU dropped to 2-8-0 overall and to 2-4 in the SCAC.
After Henry Suazo scored to give Schreiner a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute, TLU took a 2-1 lead with a goal in the 69th minute from
William Cook and a goal in the 73rd minute from
Carter Jenkins.
Miguel Candelario and Brendan Sota, the goalkeeper, assisted on the Cook goal. The Jenkins goal was unassisted.
Schreiner tied the match in the 75th minute with a goal from Allan Gonzalez.
Brendan Soto made six saves for TLU. He played the final 65 minutes in goal.
Brandon Anselmi also had six saves. He played all 110 minutes.
