SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Fifteenth-ranked Trinity received a first-half goal from Derrick Horvath and a second-half goal from Christian Sakshaug to post a 2-0 conference win Friday night over Texas Lutheran.
Horvath scored at the 20-minute mark, and Sakshaug put home a shot at the 56:12 mark. Chris Madden assisted on the first goal, and Todd Edwards assisted on the second goal.
TLU registered 15 total shots to Trinity's 11. The Bulldogs had eight total shots on goal to Trinity's seven.
The Tigers improved to 8-2 overall and to 4-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
TLU dropped to 6-3 overall and to 3-3 in the SCAC.
Trinity keeper Chad Margotta made eight saves against TLU. Bulldog keeper
Jonathan Michael recorded four saves. TLU had one team save.
Fabian Linares took three shots for TLU, and he had two shots on goal.
Isaac Lopez and
Nathan Drouillard each had two shots on goal.
The Bulldogs continue SCAC play at 2 p.m. Sunday in Kerrville, Texas. TLU faces Schreiner University.
