Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer hangs tough, eventually falls 1-0 to No. 17 Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS â€" A goal in the 71st minute from Max Grossenbacher proved to be the different in Texas Lutheran's 1-0 road loss to No. 17 Colorado College on Sunday.

Despite being outshot 20-7 for the game, the Bulldogs, thanks for eight saves from keeper Jonathan Michael, managed to stay in it until the end. It was the seventh conference loss of the season for TLU. Remarkably, all seven have come by just one goal. In fact, the Bulldogs have played just one game decided by more than one goal, a 2-0 win over Schreiner to open up conference play.

The loss dropped Texas Lutheran's record to 7-8-2 overall and 5-7-1 in conference. The loss also means the Bulldogs can no longer capture the third seed in the conference tournament, though the fourth seed, which is currently Dallas, is still within their grasp.

Michael (Coppell, Texas) was the star for the Bulldogs. The junior's seven saves is the third most he's made all season. Five of those saves came in the second half.

The first half was an even affair, with Colorado College finding just a slight 8-5 advantage in the shot count. It was the second half that set the game apart. Aside from the giving up the late goal, the Bulldogs were outshot 12-2 in the frame, with Colorado College getting six shots on goal.

Isaac Lopez (Round Rock, Texas) led the team with three shots for the game. He was one of two Bulldogs to notch a shot on target, as well. Andrew Morales (San Antonio, Texas) provided the other shot that required a save from the Colorado College keeper.

The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season with a Halloween home game against Schreiner. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. Live video and live stats will be available via tlubulldogs.com.
